It sits in a plastic box under your hood and acts as a barrier, trapping dust, pollen, insects, and other road debris before it can get sucked into the sensitive internals of your engine.

Over time, this filter gets clogged with all the gunk it has captured. A dirty filter restricts airflow, forcing your engine to work harder to breathe. This can lead to sluggish acceleration, decreased power, and, most noticeably, a drop in fuel economy. You're literally paying more at the pump because your engine is struggling for air. If you've ever noticed a musty, "old sock" smell when you first turn on your car's fan, a dirty cabin air filter is the most likely culprit.

A clogged cabin filter not only makes the air you breathe less pleasant but also reduces the performance of your entire HVAC system.
